Why Use a Cyan Screen?

Check Red Sub-pixels

Cyan is a mix of Green and Blue. This means the Red sub-pixel should be completely OFF. If you see a red dot on this screen, it means your Red sub-pixel is stuck "ON".

CMYK Calibration Check

Cyan is a primary subtractive color used in printing (CMYK). Designers use this screen to quickly check how their monitor renders this difficult-to-display hue.

Find Dead Pixels

If you see a black dot, it means both Green and Blue sub-pixels are dead at that location. If you see a solid Blue or Green dot, the other sub-pixel is dead.

Cool Lighting

Cyan provides a bright, cool, and energizing light source. It's often used in "cyberpunk" or futuristic photography setups.

How to Spot Stuck Pixels?

  1. Launch Fullscreen: Click the button above to fill your screen with Cyan.
  2. Scan for Red Dots: A red dot stands out vividly against cyan and indicates a stuck red pixel.
  3. Scan for Black Dots: A black dot means dead pixels in the Green/Blue channels.
  4. Exit: Click anywhere or press ESC to return.

Technical Details: The Color Cyan

  • Hex Code: #00FFFF RGB (0, 255, 255). It is created by combining full intensity Green and Blue light. Also known as Aqua in web design.
  • Complementary Color Cyan is the direct opposite (complement) of Red in the RGB color model, making it the best background to test red pixel defects.

Cyan Screen FAQs

Is Cyan the same as Turquoise?

Not exactly. Cyan (#00FFFF) is a pure spectral color maxing out green and blue. Turquoise usually contains a bit less blue and is slightly darker. This tool uses pure Cyan.

Why is this color so bright?

Cyan activates two out of three sub-pixels (Green and Blue) at 100% power, making it one of the brightest colors a monitor can display, second only to White.
